Credits Explained
What a credit is, how usage is calculated, and how to make credits last.
PrettiFlow runs on credits. Every plan includes a credit balance, and each AI build draws from it. This page explains exactly how.
What is a credit?
One credit corresponds to roughly 1,000 effective tokens of AI work — "effective" meaning tokens after PrettiFlow weights them by how heavy the task is and how expensive the model is.
So a credit isn't a flat "1,000 words" — light tasks on cheap models cost a tiny fraction of a credit, while heavy tasks on premium models cost more. See Credit cost per model for how costs compare across models and tasks.
How usage is tracked
Reserved up front
When a build starts, a small credit reserve is held so it can't run away with
your balance. Anything unused is released.
Charged on completion
Your actual usage is calculated from real token consumption and deducted when
the build finishes.
Full audit trail
Every credit movement — builds, top-ups, refunds — is logged so you can see
where credits went.
Making credits last
- Use Plan mode to scope big tasks before building, avoiding rework.
- Keep prompts focused — smaller, clearer tasks use fewer tokens.
- Let PrettiFlow's automatic routing do its job; it already favors cheap models for light work.
Running low?
Standard and Pro plans support credit top-ups — buy more credits without changing plans. See the FAQ for details.
